What is hematology oncology?

Hematology oncology is something that a physician who has specialized in both the study of blood (hematology) and the study of cancer diseases (oncology) works with. A person with this profession diagnoses, treats and, if possible, prevents cancerous diseases affecting the blood. Preferably treated by a hematologist-oncologist are disorders such as anemia, leukemia, lymphoma and iron-deficiency.

Likewise, a hematologist-oncologist could specialize in managing solid tumors but, hematologists-oncologist don’t usually work with operable cancers, such as prostate cancer.

Olink Proteomics have elaborated human biomarker discovery technology. Objectively, we wish to enable precision medicine through proteomics with our work in order to enhance the field of hematology oncology.
