What is hematology oncology?

Do you know what oncology is? If not, keep reading.

In short terms, oncology is the doctrine of tumour diseases. Thus, it is a medicine branch which takes concrete form in, for example, the oncology department of a hospital, that specializes in and treats cancer diseases.

At an oncology department, chemotherapy, antibodies and other medicinal products are offered as treatment against diseases caused by cancerous tumours. In addition, scientific clinical research is often carried out at these departments and elsewhere on tumour diagnoses such as breast cancer, lymphoma, melanoma and other cancerous pathologies.

Do you now feel you got the answer to the question “What is oncology?” We hope so. At Olink, we are continuously operating towards a better understanding of cancer and personalized medicine. Our Oncology II panel is a high-yield immunoassay enabling analysis of almost 100 oncology-related protein biomarkers across 96 samples all at once.

Do you have questions about Olink Proteomics’ products? Or would you like to discuss your needs of human protein biomarker discovery? Feel free to have a look at our oncology products or contact us.
