Highlights
• ACE2 receptor is a crucial for effective replication of infectious SARS-CoV.
• We detect a higher ACE2 levels in males, elderly, and those with insulin resistance.
• Our findings are in line with clinical reports on severity of SARS‐CoV‐2 in patients.
